Description:

Mental illnesses are often hidden from society so to protect the sufferer from possible judgement and prejudice. Living with a person who suffers from severe bipolar disorder, made me realise how people who are closest to the ‘patient’ are often scarred more, as they have to bear the brunt of covering up and protecting the sufferer.  They serve as the buffer between the person and society.

Doilies are used to cover up and beautify damaged surfaces and to protect vulnerable surfaces from being damaged. A doily beautifies, but no one knows what is hidden under the surface.
