Gerrit Hattingh is a Bloemfontein artist and head of the Department of Visual Arts and Design at Motheo TVET College.

He completed his B.Tech Fine Art at the CUT and MA Higher Education at the UFS in 2009 (cum laude).  He participated in various group exhibitions and has been selected as finalist in most major South African art competitions such as Spier Contemporary, SASOL New Signatures and ABSA L'Atelier.

In his approach to making art, he believes that medium should follow concept and therefore explores a variety of art mediums ranging from new media, drawing, photography and sculpture. His art aims to be unique in style through identifiable irony and tongue in cheek commentary on current social issues.
