Description:

The economy lies at the heart of the condition of this country in terms of the assembly and use of goods and services and the allocation of money. In this regard, the formation of my work was inspired by the South African economic issue regarding money that has lost its value, such as the one cent, two cent and five cent coins - which brings us to the point that other South African animals have also completely lost their value, like the two Cape Sparrow birds on the one cent and the Blue Crane on the five cent. At least the Black Wildebeest has been promoted from the old two cent coin to the five Rand.

The first drawing portrays a Cape Sparrow, lying dead under a one cent coin, which shows that it has lost value, is no longer being taken into consideration and is being forgotten.

The second drawing shows an empty two cent coin, with the Black Wildebeest having left its space for promotional purposes.

The third drawing shows the Blue Crane still being stuck on the five cent while it was trying to leave for better values and to still bask in its uniqueness.

The fourth drawing shows the Black Wildebeest 'falling' for the five Rand only because of its strength and weight, leaving all suspicions behind.
