Description:

My artwork draws attention to the fact that animals are of little value in our society and that death in actuality is a part of our everyday lives, whether we notice it or not.  Most of these deaths are so unnecessary and could have been avoided.  We are losing a huge amount of native wildlife on our roads and this work pays respect to these animals and at the same time helps to grow awareness of the problem.

We were on a road trip from the Free State to the Western Cape and by the side of the highway there was a majestic looking battered fox taking a nap under the scorching sun. Upon further inspection the serene creature was surrounded by crows that gave the impression that this little animal was dead.

Does seeing dead animals by the road make you think or do you choose to ignore by looking the other way?  Firstly, you can avoid it by giving more attention to your surroundings while driving.  Secondly, that death can be so torturous and agonising and at the same time so peacefully serene.
