The New Breed Art Competition
The New Breed Art Competition was established in 2016 by Bloemfontein law firm PH Attorneys as a unique visual arts competition for Free State artists. For eight years, it provided a platform for South African artists to showcase their talent and contemporary Free State art while benefiting from prizes and national exposure.
The competition emerged from the firm’s shared passion for excellence and creativity, recognising these qualities in other disciplines. It was founded on the belief that art is a universal medium capable of shifting perceptions, breaking boundaries, and inspiring evolution—for both artists and audiences alike.
As a Free State-based competition, it celebrated the region’s artistic roots, giving local artists the opportunity to showcase their work and gain national recognition. While the competition concluded in 2025, its impact endures, and the creativity it fostered continues to inspire.
