Description:

When it comes to the science of the origin of life, facts don’t speak for themselves. They are therefore interpreted through the world view of the one examining the evidence. That is why microbiology professor, Ebenezer Hawk is so enraged when his star student does not share his Evolutionary world view but rather that of Biblical Creation.

More puzzling is his dramatic change of heart… a coincidence or divine intervention?

Conceptual

The surface upon which both of my artworks were made is a collection of envelope packaging from a secular humanist publication with a foundational faith in the Theory of Evolution. Since western media has a fundamental bias towards this world view, it seemed appropriate to bring the Biblical Creation message onto what most people throw away.

I have deliberately used the dark paper, the predominance of black Indian ink with pencil and black crayon to help amplify the clash of two opposing world views. The acrylic colour and white highlights are there to complete the form and to bring an overall light-heartedness to a very contentious subject.
