Description:

'Regrets' is a reflection of my personal experience after the loss of who I thought was my daughter. After my girlfriend told me that she was expecting, I embraced the responsibilities and excitement of fatherhood, only to find out two years later that I am in fact not the father. The loss and betrayal I felt was immense and losing the love I felt and the role of fatherhood is still something I struggle with.

The black and white images reminds me of the sonar photo of my baby girl, but morphs into an overwhelmed, even drowning woman. The water surface is scattered with ghostlike mirage images of lost memories.

The work is surrounded by scattered, dead flowers, representing the passing of time lost and felt. Keeping the symbolism of the flowers in mind - loss of: loyalty, love, purity, faith anf cheer.
