Description:

This work is a dedication to my grandfather Jimmy.

I have been developing a signature style for the art that I do, and when I make these kinds of paintings/drawings, I call them ‘quickies.’ Sentimentally this work is about abundance or even humble arrogance. I work intuitively, meaning I just go ahead and start painting based on a mood. It is only when I get to the sense that the artwork isn’t asking for more that I can sit back and analyse the possible themes that relate to it. In that sense it is post-rationalistic.

This specific art piece is hence about creative living, or at least the pursuit thereof. To me the artwork is screaming ‘abundance.’ There are slight hints of the sexualisation of both men and women. This work is structural and only meant to document what was stated in the previous sentence. It is not necessarily meant to say whether this sexualisation is good or bad (I leave that to the viewer). Youthfulness and all of its wisdom are some points that I like to emphasise.
