Graphite on Fabriano
R1 800
Description:
This is the Diptych that includes two graphite portraits of slain LQBTQ+ activists. On the right hand side is the face of Eudy Smilane who was curatively raped and killed in 2008 and left on the left is the face of Noxolo Nogwaza who was also curatively raped and killed 2011. This artwork serves as a symbol of mourning for the South African lesbian community and also as a painful reminder of how the injustices perpetrated against queer women of colour constantly fall under the radar when it comes to feminism, not only in this country but across the world.
