Description:
This sculpture is a symbol of nurturing and care. It is an interpretation of the African Jacana bird. The male of the species has pouches beneath its wings which it uses to safely carry its chicks in moments of danger, with just their little legs protruding from his plumage.  A manifestation of paternal caregiving, this piece is a tribute to fatherhood, particularly in our contemporary society in which the responsibility of raising children is largely taken up by women. Its exaggerated legs and multiple heads lend a mythical quality to the bird, reminiscent of Hindu Deities.
