Description:

Unfortunately in many parts of the country’s provinces, towns and small villages our innocent girls are continuously being abused by men whom they look up to, and who should be playing a leading role in their day to day lives. Sexual abuse should be condoned and eradicated from our society, and punished severely with long-term prison sentences to stop repeat offenders.

With high mortality rates and broken homes, the child is left to provide for and defend her siblings as she tries to attend to her daily classes at school 10 or more kilometers away.

Twice as many girls as boys will never start school. Education of the girl child is not only a human right, it is also in the best interests of society as a whole. No nation can achieve success unless education is accorded to all of its citizens - boys and girls. Educational institutions would do well to consider giving first priority to the education of women and girls, since it is through educating mothers that the benefits of knowledge can be most effectively and rapidly diffused throughout society.

Women will not only render service to humanity as mothers and first educators to the next generation, but they have a special contribution to make to the creation of peace and a just world order.

"If your plans are for one year, plant rice…if your plans are for ten years, plant a tree…if your plans are for a hundred years, educate your children."
