Description:
The topic she has chosen to address is domestic violence, creating a pair of ceramic vases to convey her message. With reference to 17th century French porcelain and the Rococo period, these vases possess a classical shape with floral designs and are in the tradition of being in a pair. The reason she chose to link domestic violence to the romantic style and content portrayed by the Rococo period, is to communicate the concept of love, romance and power.
Her question regarding domestic violence is, why do people stay in abusive relationships? She researched this issue and found the answers to be shocking, one of which was that these couples are in fact, in love.
