Description:
In this self portrait with danger/warning tape used to cordon off areas, he explores "no go" zones and prohibited areas. The tape is usually used to indicate crime scenes, accident areas or possible danger zones. It serves as warnings for passersby and the general public. He lost his father in a car accident at the age of 12 and vividly remembers the tape at the accident scene.

In June 2017 he almost lost his cousin in another car accident while he was on his way from Bloemfontein to Johannesburg to attend his Masters Degree graduation ceremony. Again the tape was used. The tape has since become a symbol of bad news. The tape in the drawing is therefore wrapped around him to protect his own emotions and feelings. Cupid - the Greek symbol for love - keeps watch, which refers to the insecurities he has concerning what the future holds. It also represents the past and the lack of fatherly love he has had.
