Details:
Not Signed
Acrylic paint
76,2 x 101,6 cm
R2 500
Description:
The artwork depicts a situation in which a child is being raised in a family where he or she feels responsible for meeting their parents' emotional needs.
This puts a strain on their childhood development, as they are withheld from being able to recognise and explore their own emotional wellbeing.
This manifests itself in adulthood, as they wrap themselves with “bubble wrap”, creating an unconscious barrier and creating a repetitive pattern where emotionally abused individuals end up in abusive co-dependent relationships. They become people-pleasers and question why it seems that nobody appreciates all they do.
This is so often the case for children growing up in a household with signs of narcissistic behaviour.
