Description:
The diptych Wool-gathering I & II represents an indulgence in idle daydreaming according to the dictionary.  The title of the artworks were derived from the word musings which is fitting to the imaginative world created through the various textures and marks made.  There is a manner of permanence to the imaginative daydreaming by the use of technical marks made, showing form and structure to the drawing.  The artwork first started by placing a postcard-sized box in the centre of the work, hinting at an imaginative place visited, but only sharing a glimpse of this frozen in time unconventional place.  The postcard-sized box morphs into the background to the rest of the paper through the merging and intertwining of textures, marks, lines and technical marks, like a stream of consciousness and unfreezing the imaginary place and showing movement and life. The postcard pulls the viewer into the artwork and allows them to be immersed by the idle daydreaming spilling from the centre of the work.
