Johannes Botma was born in 1989 in Bloemfontein where he continued to study at the University of the Free State and obtained his BA Fine Arts degree in 2011.

Specialising in digital, specifically interactive digital art, he won the UFS Flight prize for innovative work in new media. He has participated in numerous exhibitions which include national arts competitions such as Sasol New Signatures and ABSA l’Atelier. He has also exhibited internationally, taking part in a group exhibition, Imago Mundi: The art of humanity, at the Venice Biennale in Rome in 2015.

He is a lecturer at Motheo College where he teaches Graphic Design.
