Description:

In this artwork the artist portrays a beekeeper's smoker. An emblem of the coat of arms of South Africa is denoted on the smoker. This beekeeper's smoker symbolises the government portraying the role of a beekeeper.

De Waal, an avid beekeeper herself, notes a close resemblance in the bee species to the human species.

The mission as a responsible beekeeper should be to help the colony grow strong and healthy. If successful, the colony would produce more honey than it requires and you would be able to harvest the excess.

A careless beekeeper can also destroy an entire hive if it chooses to place its own personal immediate interests above the welfare of the colony.
