Description:
This photo comments on our own individual and collective relationships with our inner selves, as well as the external world. We are constantly forming such relationships on numerous levels with a variety of participants. The effects that they have on us ultimately force us to question ourselves and our own existence in respect to the connections we form with the natural as well as social entities in our lives.

On one level, we are caught in a relentless struggle within ourselves, which is signified by the aptly placed focus on small areas in the photo, and not necessarily on the areas we would expect to be in focus - ultimately emphasising the volatility of our relationship with our deeper psyche. On another level, the movement of the rein (which is one of the small areas in focus) makes reference to one of the underlying driving forces in our relationship with the external; that of our constant need to control that which we are in a relationship with. Ultimately, this photo encapsulates this existential question: is our need to control our external relationships not fueled by our lack of control within ourselves?
