Panoramic photographs have always fascinated me. Waiting is an attempt at using the format of a panoramic picture in a different way. Not to highlight the awe of an expansive landscape, nor the wonder of a vast skyline, but to emphasise the profound loneliness one experiences when stuck in some unknown space, waiting.
Waiting was taken as a test photo for a series of images marketing a local theatre production. All of the photographs taken in this series emphasise isolation, and the odd aspect ratio of the panorama is meant to highlight the subject’s loneliness.
