The New Breed Art Competition, hosted annually by PH Attorneys, is thrilled to announce a bold and innovative evolution in its format, signalling a transformative shift towards embracing digital transformation and expanding the reach of the competition nationally.
In its ninth year, the New Breed Art Competition has long been a cornerstone of the Free State art scene, providing a platform for up-and-coming artists to showcase their talent and creativity. Now, building on its success, the competition is breaking new ground by transitioning to an all-digital format and opening its doors to artists from across South Africa.
This strategic move reflects the competition's commitment to live up to its name and be innovative, inclusive, and accessible. By going digital, the New Breed Art Competition will eliminate geographical barriers to entry, allowing artists from every corner of our country to participate and share their artwork with a global audience.
"We are excited to embark on this new chapter in the New Breed Art Competition's journey," says Lesley Mokgoro, CEO at PH Attorneys and spokesperson for the New Breed Art Competition. "The competition remains focused on unearthing new talent. However, by embracing digital transformation and expanding our reach nationally, we aim to remove barriers to entry and identify a larger pool of talent from across South Africa. Now, no matter where you live, you can participate and submit your entry to the competition via our online platform."
Key highlights of the revamped competition format include:
Online submissions only: Artists will submit their artwork online through the New Breed Art website, in the form of images or videos of their works. This eliminates the physical submission of work.
National representation: The competition is now open to artists from all regions of South Africa, ensuring national representation and diversity. Artists will have to demonstrate that they are South African citizens and residing in South Africa.
Virtual exhibition: Selected artworks will be individually profiled and also showcased in a virtual exhibition space, accessible to art enthusiasts from anywhere in the world.
“We extend an invitation to our Free State artists who have been the heartbeat of the New Breed Art Competition since its inception, to continue to support and enter the 2024 competition. Your creativity, passion, and dedication have shaped the competition into what it is today, and through your entry, you will be able to demonstrate your skill against the best South Africa has to offer” expressed Lesley.
Join us as we embrace the future of art, united in our shared love for creativity and innovation.
