Anton Roodt, well known architect from Roodt Architects in Bloemfontein, also has a remarkable talent for artistry, and was recognised as one of the top artists in the 2017 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition.

The five winners from the 2017 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition are set to make the Free State art scene come alive this July as they exhibit some of the most compelling visual art from the province.

Jessica Hansen’s mesmerising ceramic artworks with strong social commentary were the public’s favourite in the 2017 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition, the result being that the public voted in droves for her to win the Public Choice Award!

One would not expect dry land to capture anyone's imagination.  Yet Louis Krüger's thrilling and innovative digital photo montages depicting the vast, dry landscape of the Northern Cape, has won him a Merit Award at the 2017 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition.

Mandi-Anne Bezuidenhout has been announced as the overall winner of the 2017 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein.
