Description:

This triptych of digital prints explores the changing cabinet of the ruling party from when the ANC was democratically elected in 1994 until June 2018.  Each print is a digital composite of faces.  Each face carries equal weight in the final image.  The central print is of 372 faces in total, a composite of seven cabinets ranging from the first on the left until the last on the right.

This work comments on the public’s perception of politics, how those in power are presented to us in the ID format portrait.  This format is often used for interviews or photographs in news articles.  The compounding of many faces into one is how we perceived those in power and how we group them into one category, the ANC.  It comments on the loss of individuality of those in power, but also how the faces of politics have changed in the last 24 years.
