Details:
Signed
Photographic print on Epson paper
89,5 x 12,5 cm (framed)
R5 940 (framed), R1 800 (unframed)
Description:
This artwork is a photograph taken on Alkantstrand in Richards Bay (the town that I grew up in). Most people don’t even know where Richards Bay is, yet I grew up there. In this artwork, I grapple with my Geworfenheit (fatedness) in this world and specifically in Richards Bay. The majority of my artworks revolve around the relationships I have with the environments/ landscapes in which I find myself. I have started to think of myself as a geomancer – someone who is interested in scatterings of pebbles, dust, sand grains or seeds on the earth and interpreting their shape and position in order to discover the visionary/imaginary therein. I am very interesting in the different appearances of landscapes of how they change each time that I see them – the changing colours, textures and layers of sand and rock shaped by time and weather and how this relates to my Geworfenheit (fatedness) in this world.
