Pauline van Tonder has been working as ceramic artist from 1992 till today. She has attended numerous workshops such as a mentorship programme with ceramic artist John Shirley and a course in porcelain by Antoinette Badenhorst.

She has also participated in various group exhibitions across the country, and has hosted various ceramic workshops with a focus on ceramic development.

In 2017 she participated in the David Walters and Friends exhibition at the William Humphreys Art Gallery, and in the same year was invited to Vallauris, France for an Artist in Residence programme.
