Description:

Studium fragmentum: solum verrere is a collection of printed fragments from my studio. These fragments are residue or ‘trash’ left behind in my studio, and they range from pieces of material, containers, equipment, packaging, and experiments, which all forms part of the making of work.

The Latin title refers to the nomenclature of naming specimens, and names the place (studio), type (fragments) and collection method (sweeping the floor). The underlying grid gives structure and order to the otherwise disordered ‘trash’. By pinning objects which are usually overlooked, it alludes to concepts found within still-life, such as the specific selection, editing, placement and display (taxis) of objects. Furthermore, it draws attention to processes involved in art-making.
