Free State Art Collective on board as new competition partner

The prestigious Free State Art Collective has come on board as the latest partner to the New Breed Art Competition, increasing the exposure and benefit to entrants of this one-of-a-kind visual arts competition.

Henceforth artists selected to participate in the New Breed Art Competition Exhibition at Oliewenhuis Art Museum, including the final winners, automatically qualify for consideration and possible inclusion in the exclusive Free State Art Collective (FSAC), founded and headed up by Karen Brusch.

"Entering a competition such as the New Breed Art Competition and being chosen as a finalist, is an invaluable opportunity for growth. All artists who are serious about their careers enter competitions. It is a way of cultivating your art practice, being acknowledged as an artist and gaining visibility.

"The New Breed Art Competition gives artists an open door for telling your unique stories, stories your ancestors have shared or stories witnessed in the unfolding present. By the retelling of everything you are, ideas you are passionate about, and reweaving it in whatever medium you feel at home with, and doing this well, you will have an artwork to enter this competition with," Brusch commented encouragingly in light of the launch of the 2021 competition last week.

"With Phatshoane Henney Attorneys having presented this competition in association with Oliewenhuis Art Museum since 2016, we are extremely excited to this year also partner with the FSAC in order to leverage the growth and development of Free State art and artists," added Magdel Louw, Competition Coordinator, and Marketing Manager at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys. "Working with the FSAC certainly takes this competition to the next level and holds enormous value to all entrants in that it allows for the possible opening of a very important door to opportunity, one that 's unique to the FSAC. As former judge and mentor to the competition, we thank Karen for her long-standing support for the competition and her investment in our local artists."
