The first exclusive callout is now being sent to selected new breed artists, who have been invited to participate in the Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Blocks initiative. This callout is by invitation only.

The four winning artists from last year's competition, recently met with well-known artist, Pauline Gutter, and Karen Brusch from the Free State Art Collective, who are mentoring them in the build-up to this year's Winners Group Exhibition.

Last night Nkululeko Nkebe was announced as the overall winner of the 2018 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Oliewenhuis Art Museum.

A total of 54 artworks will be showcased during the Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition Exhibition at Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein, with the official opening taking place on 18 October 2018.

Now in its third year, the Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition 2018 has attracted just over 130 high quality artworks as entries into this year’s competition.

Now in its third year, this visual arts competition aimed at discovering new and upcoming Free State artists is open for entries from 10 – 16 September at Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein.
