The prestigious Free State Art Collective has come on board as the latest partner to the New Breed Art Competition.

Not only is this year’s 2019 New Breed Winners Group Exhibition on show in the foyer of Phatshoane Henney Attorneys’ offices in Bloemfontein – but as of 1 October 2020 it is also being showcased online as an innovative virtual exhibition to allow for art-lovers worldwide to enjoy this exciting immersive art experience.

As a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic and uncertainty concerning the lockdowns that have been implemented and continue to affect all of South Africa, the New Breed Art Competition 2020 has unfortunately been cancelled.

In speaking to the growing threat of mental health issues, depression and suicide among our country’s youth, the judges of the New Breed Art Competition 2019 were in full agreement from the outset that this year’s winning work is Neo Theku’s compelling photographical work, entitled “Suicide mask.”

A total of 44 artworks are now being showcased as part of the New Breed Art Competition Exhibition at Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein.

A remarkable body of new artworks by each of the four winners of the New Breed Art Competition 2018, are now on show in the foyer of Phatshoane Henney Attorneys’ offices in Markgraaff Street, Bloemfontein.

The first exclusive callout is now being sent to selected new breed artists, who have been invited to participate in the Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Blocks initiative. This callout is by invitation only.

The four winning artists from last year's competition, recently met with well-known artist, Pauline Gutter, and Karen Brusch from the Free State Art Collective, who are mentoring them in the build-up to this year's Winners Group Exhibition.
