When one gets close to the statuesque ceramic wedding dress for which Helena de Waal (37) was awarded the title of Runner-up of the 2016 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition, it is rather difficult to fathom how she managed to assemble this almost 1,5 metres tall creation. She revealed to competition coordinator, Magdel Louw, just how she accomplished such a feat.

Magnificent porcelain - winner of the 2016 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition

A magnificently detailed artistic creation consisting of nine white porcelain birds, each mounted in its own wood-and-glass box, has bestowed on Toni Pretorius (32) the title of overall winner of the very first Phatshoane Henney New Breed Competition in November last year.
